Zak Kerkhoven is a very talented multi-instrumentalist from Homewood, Illinois which is located just south of Chicago proper. Zak began playing the guitar at the age of five and he has been continually honing his craft ever since. Being a multi-instrumentalist, Kerkhoven has put forth an effort to perform in multiple performance scenarios which include clubs, restaurants, bars and busking the streets, so if you are in Chicago you might just bump into him. With downtime at home, Zak records a fair majority of his own music and has done so for close to 10 years now.
Besides performing in a solo capacity Zak has also performed in multiple arrangements including Mars Needs Women, Platypus Teddy, and PurP. His musical influences cover a broad range of genres from r&b to reggae as well as yacht rock, jazz and electronica. His individual sound is an amalgamation of multiple styles and artists but upon listening we detect as much Bob Dylan as we do Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. His debut single for Garden House titled “She’s The One” is a psychedelic soul saver just waiting to become your next summer anthem. Many great things are expected.
