Chicago music scene veteran, John Mott is an exemplary guitarist, singer and songwriter who joined the Garden House artist roster when he was a member of Souljunky. John’s resume includes residencies with many
acclaimed groups such as Bellsize, Pompous Lily and The Jack Dempsey’s. And Mott has shared some of the midwest’s best stages with the likes of Wilco, Local H, Urge Overkill, The Bodeans and many others.
John has always had a greater appreciation and respect for the school of music and he possesses the uncanny ability to conjure deep feelings and intriguing thoughts merely through the use of melody and harmonic structure. His most recent solo long player “Afterhours” demonstrates how years of writing and performing with other fine musicians can eventually evolve into something exceptional. “Afterhours” is Americana in flavor, and it features a variety of interesting musical flavors comprised of winding melodies and harmonies that will stay with the listener long after the last note is struck.
John’s songs are environmentally reflective, patient and truly honest. And his songs aspire to attain a natural maturity that is both meaningful and inspirational. His desire to express himself musically is something that continues to take his compositions to new heights all the while pushing his repertoire’s boundaries.
